The educational field trip to Kampung Patin has become an unrivaled magnet for students, because here they can explore experiences that are not only entertaining, but also broaden their horizons about local culture and the natural environment.
During their visit, the children had the opportunity to learn firsthand about various aspects of life in Kampung Patin. From meeting with the motivator and owner of Graha Pratama Fish, to the experience of feeding catfish in cultivation ponds. Every moment in Kampung Patin brings an invaluable opportunity to learn. Thus, the field trip to Kampung Patin "is not just walking around", but a learning journey that has a long-term impact on the development of children's knowledge and understanding.
Alhamdulillah, this field trip activity ran smoothly and successfully. Children from various schools also enjoyed every moment they experienced there. "Not just walking around", they were guided to get to know more about pangasius, one of the local treasures that has become a distinctive stamp of this region. At Graha Pratama Fish, they are introduced to various processed catfish, such as shredded pangasius, amplang pangasius, and pangasius skin crackers. It turned out that shredded pangasius was the favorite among all the preparations tasted, proving how delicious this often overlooked local dish is.
An unforgettable experience for the field trip participants occurred when they were invited to see a pangasius hatchery with an indoor system. This is where they can witness firsthand how the pangasius hatchery process is carried out using modern technology. One of the field trip participants, Ziyad Al Faruq, from the Srikandi Branch of Makkah Tahfizh School, stood out with his critical attitude which made him actively ask questions to the guide. Ziyad's interest not only shows great curiosity, but also illustrates an effort to understand more deeply about catfish cultivation. This kind of critical attitude is an important aspect to instill in improving literacy in children, because by asking questions and seeking further information, they can develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Not only that, they were also invited to feed the pangasius in the grow-out cultivation ponds. This activity is not only entertaining, but also provides a direct understanding of the fish farming process. They were even given the opportunity to make their own pangasius feed, using ingredients such as trash fish and bran. Even though children don't really like the smell of this food because it is similar to the smell of shrimp paste and salted fish, this experience is still a valuable part of their learning.
